PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting in a couple of tune up’s prior to kicking off NOS Energy Indiana Sprint Week this weekend, Robert Ballou finished second on Friday night at Bloomington Speedway before battling Mother Nature at Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night and finishing fourth.

“We took advantage of a couple of shows over the weekend to try some stuff,” Robert Ballou said. “Our results were okay, but I didn’t like how we felt so it was a success in the fact that we learned a thing or two.”

Making the trip to Bloomington, IN on Friday night, the Rocklin, CA native turned Indiana resident would kick his night off by lining his Dickinson Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards backed No. 12 entry up in the fourth row of his heat race.

Needing to make way his way forward, ‘The Mad Man’ would put on a little show as he bobbed and weaved through traffic to tally second when the checkered flag waived.

Gridding the field from the third row for the feature event, Ballou would continue to work his way forward just as he did in heat race competition. Though he admitted his car was a little off, he was still able to run well on a very slicked off surface.

Working his way forward, Ballou would mimic his heat race performance as he tallied a second place finish when the race came to a conclusion.

“I didn’t feel all that great on Friday night, but I will take a second place finish,” he said. “I typically struggle when it is really slick, and we did some good things on a really slick surface.”

Saturday night the scene would shift to Haubstadt, IN for an MSCS tilt at Tri-State Speedway. With impending weather in the area, Ballou would open his night up by timing in fourth quickest in his group.

Running second in his heat race, Ballou would then find himself in the fifth starting position in his heat race. With a shower drenching the speedway, a heavy and fast surface would greet the field for the feature event.

Battling inside the Top-Five all race long, Ballou would find himself in fourth as the laps clicked off. Unable to make his way on to the podium, Ballou would close the weekend of racing out with another Top-Five as his attention now turns to NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week with the USAC National Sprint Car Series.

“I have a couple things to switch back after not being to happy with how things felt over the weekend, but I think we will be pretty good this week,” Ballou added. “We have been pretty fast the last few weeks, and I just need to put good races together.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Lucas Oil Products, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Bell Helmets for their support.

ON TAP: Robert Ballou is geared up for NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week that kicks off on Friday night at Plymouth Speedway, Saturday night at Kokomo Speedway and Sunday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway before a quick break.
