PETERSEN MEDIA: Robert Ballou traveled to the famed Eldora Speedway on Friday and Saturday night with the USAC National Sprint Car Series and ran well as he finished second on Friday night and fifth during Saturday’s finale.

“We had some long nights putting a new car together for this weekend and it seemed to pay off in our first two nights with it,” Robert Ballou said. “We have made some leaps and bounds the last couple of weeks and I think we will continue to get better.”

The Rocklin, CA native opened the #LetsRaceTwo weekend up on Friday night by timing the Dickinson Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards backed No. 12 machine in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Running second in his heat race to Justin Grant, Ballou would move into the feature event where he would find himself on the pole of the 30-lap affair. When the race came to life, the ‘Mad Man’ would quickly take a liking to the cushion as he began opening up a comfortable lead.

As the race moved along, Ballou would continue to run to wall though he would soon feel pressure from Brady Bacon who was working the bottom of the speedway.

Continuing to lead the non-stop feature event in heavy traffic, Ballou would see Bacon get by with just 10-laps left in the race. Dropping low to try and mirror Bacon’s line, it would be to his liking as Bacon would check out and Ballou would finish second on this night.

Back on Saturday to try again, Ballou would time the Deaton’s Waterfront Service/Rossie Feed and Grain/Unique Breedz backed entry in eighth quickest in time trials for the second night in a row.

Chasing Chris Windom across the stripe in heat race action, Ballou would find himself in the eighth starting spot for the 30-lap feature event. From the fourth row, Ballou would battle with the likes of Brady Bacon, Kevin Thomas, Jr, and CJ Leary as they battled for position inside the Top-10.

Able to make some moves during the course of the race, Ballou would close a strong weekend with a fifth place finish.

“It was rewarding to run well after a long week, but we still want to be better,” Ballou said. “We are getting me more and more comfortable and that is a big deal in these cars. We are getting there, and I am confident we will get up on that top step on the podium very soon.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Lucas Oil Products, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Bell Helmets for their support.

ON TAP: Ballou will be back in action with the USAC National Sprint Car Series on Friday night in Granite City, IL and on Saturday in Pevely, MO.
