Becker 5th in KWS Finale and 13th to Cap SCCT Season

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night’s Tribute to Gary Patterson marked the end of Sean Becker’s 2021 campaign as the night brought an end to both the King of the West Series and the Sprint Car Challenge Tour campaigns.

“Dan Monhoff continued to improve on the car each time we hit the track with the SCCT,” Sean Becker said. “Unfortunately, we had a part failure halfway through the main, and I was barely able to nurse it home the rest of the way.”

With 24 cars on hand for the final SCCT event of the season, ‘The Shark’ got the night started off by timing the M&M Structures backed No. 35 machine in third fastest in his time trial group.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, ‘The Shark’, would run second to DJ Netto which would then place him in the 10th starting position for the final 30-lap SCCT feature event of the season.

On the slick racing surface, Becker would get off to a nice start as he began working his forward in the race’s early stages. Getting up to seventh, Becker would soon link up in a battle for a spot inside the Top-Five until a broken header would cause issues.

Losing power, Becker would do what he could to maintain as he would slowly drop back in the field. Falling outside of the Top-10 on the 22nd lap, Becker would continue to try and stay afloat but slipped back to 13th when the checkered flag was displayed.

Also closing his season off with Vertullo Motorsports on Saturday night, Becker’s 410ci portion of the night would get off to a solid start as he timed the Starr Property Management/A.R.T./Morrison Concrete backed No. 83v mount in seventh fastest in time trials.

Heat race action saw Becker battle with young Joel Myers Jr in the early stages before hooking up in a battle with Corey Day late in the race. Finishing fourth, Becker would move into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 9th starting position.

Running inside the Top-10 as the race got off to a slow start as it was riddled with stoppages, Becker would soon find himself in sixth after a multi car tangle took place just in front of him.

Able to avoid the fray, Becker would then jump into fourth just past the race’s halfway point as he chased after his second consecutive podium finish with the series.

Battling with the likes of Tim Kaeding and DJ Netto in the waning laps of the feature, Becker would close the night out with a fifth-place finish in KWS action.

“In the 83v, we had good restarts all feature event long, and we found ourselves in the Top-5 in the end,” Becker said. “It felt really good to complete out season with a good finish for a great team.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-59, Wins-1, Top 5’s- 14, Top-10’s- 31
