Becker and Cook Motorsports Battle Hard for Dual 12th Place Finishes in Chico, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- Over the weekend and Chico, CA, Sean Becker made his debut with Cook Motorsports. Despite things not going their way at times, Becker and company gelled nicely as the veteran was able to put together two impressive charges to 12th on two locked down racing surfaces.

“I had a lot of fun with the Cook Motorsports over the weekend,” Sean Becker said. “We ran a ton of laps and learned a lot about each other.”

Kicking their season off on Friday night, Becker would get his signals crossed with track officials and it would result in him missing the scales after time trials which resulted in him being scores 12th fastest in his group despite timing the Absolute Plumbing/Cook’s Contracting/CSR Builders No. 22x machine in sixth fastest.

Lining up 12th in his heat race, ‘The Shark’ would pick up a couple of positions on the extremely fast racing surface as he would finish ninth and make his way into the Friday night ‘B’ Main.

With just four transfer spots up for grabs out of the semi, Becker would have his work cut out for himself as he would take the green flag from the 16th starting position.

Having a little luck on his side, Becker would also make some nice moves as he worked his way through the field and got within striking distance of the fourth and final transfer spot.

A late restart bunched the field up, and Becker would use some late race magic to steal the final transfer position coming to the line and keep his night alive.

Lining up 24th in the 30-lap feature event, Becker would again get his elbows up as he worked his way forward from the tail.

Slicing and dicing his way through the field, Becker would use his veteran savvy to gain positions. When the 30-lap finale came to a close, Becker successfully charged from 24th to a 12th place finish.

Returning to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night, Becker and company would get off to a much better start as he timed in third fastest in his time trials group.

Taking the green flag from the second row of his heat race, Becker would get tight and bike up in turns one and two and flirt with taking a tumble. Able to get his machine back on all fours, Becker had slipped back to fifth and fallen out of a transfer.

Going on to finish fifth in his heat, Becker would again be forced into the ‘B’ as he chased after one of the four transfers into the feature event.

Surviving a wild semi, Becker would keep his mount safely inside the Top-4, as his fourth-place finish put him in the 35-lap John Padjen Classic finale where he would again take the green from the 24th starting position.

Despite the early season track still creating a technical racing surface, Becker wasted to time making his moves as he jumped into the 21st position on the race’s opening lap.

Working into 19th just two laps later, Becker would get into 17th by the 10th circuit. Using a couple of restarts to his benefit, Becker would move into 14th just past the halfway point of the feature event.

The closing laps of the race saw Becker battle with Joel Myers Jr for the 12th position, and in the end Becker would win the battle and cap his weekend off with a 12th place finish.

“The Cook’s have a really fast car, I just need to clean some things up on my end,” Becker added.

Cook Motorsports would like to thank Absolute Plumbing, Cook’s Contracting, CSR Builders, Shark Racing Engines, Cottage Grove Inn, Primetime Designs, Highline Performance, Les Schwab, and Cascade Pizza for their support.

ON TAP: Cook Motorsports and Sean Becker return to action March 26th in Placerville, CA.
