PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the Menne Motorsports No. 75 machine to resume action with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour Pres. by Abreu Vineyards in Stockton, CA on Saturday night, Sean Becker rallied form a slow start to salvage his night with an impressive fifth place finish.
“We struggled to find speed all night, but somehow we were able to fight our way through the night and finish fifth,” Sean Becker said.
With 39 cars checked into the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night, Becker would time in sixth fastest in his qualifying group which placed the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay Inc. machine in the third row of the night’s second heat race.
Unable to get going in his heat, ‘The Shark’ would find himself in an unusual spot, as he would line up in the fourth row of the 15-lap ‘B’ main event. Able to work his way forward, Becker would get into the fourth spot and get a little breathing room as the race moved along.
Taking six to the feature, Becker would hang to the fourth spot and punch his ticket to the 35-lap ‘A’ main where he would line the Astro Titanium/Ponybracket.com/Hunt’s Race World machine up in the 21st starting position.
On the slick surface, Becker would slowly work his way forward methodically picking up positions as the wild race moved along. Picking up some spots do to others misfortune along the way, Becker would do his best to make up points after a tough start as he was able to fight all the way back and finish in the fifth spot.
“To fight back and finish fifth after starting in the last row is a huge testament to our race team,” Becker added. “They never give up and are always working to make us better.”
