PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard a winged 410ci sprint car for the first time since the World of Outlaws show in Tulare, CA back in March, Ryan Bernal would finish 11th at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, before a mid race mishap would end his night early on Saturday night.

“It was another weekend with the wing, and first time in the 410 with the wing in a couple months, and I think we are getting better each time out,” Ryan Bernal said.

Making his debut at the Silver Dollar Speedway with a wing over the weekend, Bernal got his first taste of action on Friday night, as he timed the Mike Phulps Motorsports No. 56 machine in eighth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Hollister, CA pilot would finish in the second spot, and line his machine up in the 10th spot, just behind the redraw cars. Lining up in the fifth row for the scheduled 25-lap feature event, Bernal settle into the 11th spot in the race’s early goings as he chased after Scott Parker. On the fifth lap, the power would suddenly go out around the track and the surrounding area, and the race would ultimately be called, and Bernal was credited with an 11th place finish.

Returning to action on Saturday night, Bernal would go to battle with the King of the West Series for the 25th Annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial. With 31 cars on hand for the event, Bernal would time in 16th fastest, before fending off Jonathan Allard to pick up the heat race win, and earn a spot in the dash.

Pulling the five in the dash draw, Bernal would line his machine up in the third row, but slip back to eighth at the finish, putting his machine in the fourth row for the 40-lap feature event.

As the race came to life, Bernal held his own against some of the region’s top drivers as he ran in the sixth spot during the early stages of the race. Moving into the fifth spot before the red flag flew on the 12th lap, Bernal found himself in a battle with Jonathan Allard and Shane Golobic.

When the race came back to life, Bernal would experience a little trouble as he slipped back to the ninth spot, before getting off the edge of turn four on the 18th lap, ultimately bringing his night to a close.

“It was not the end result we were hoping for on Saturday night, but we were able to move forward early, and learn some things running with the best around,” he added. “I have a very hard working team, and want to thank them for all they do.”

Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.
