PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing with the King of the West Series on Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Blake Carrick had a really strong night going until a wild flip while running second ultimately ended his night.
“We had a really good car all night long in Stockton, CA, but unfortunately the rough and tumble track bit us while running second,” Blake Carrick said. “I am extremely thankful that all of my safety gear did its job and that I was able to walk away.”
Carrick’s night got off to a quick start as the youngster from Lincoln, CA timed his entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick would finish second to Craig Stidham, and find himself in the Dash.
Finishing fifth in the six-lap Sunnyvalley Bacon Dash, Carrick would line the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B up in the third row of the 25-lap feature event.
Following a red on the race’s first attempted start for pole sitter Chase Johnson, Carrick would now find himself in the third starting position. On a track that was extremely rough and locked down, Carrick was still able to make a couple of moves as he was able to clear Rico Abreu and take over the second position in the race’s early stages.
On the eighth lap, Carrick’s machine would get tight on the heavy surface in turns one and two and it would result in his machine flipping wildly before coming to a rest just off of turns one and two.
While he was able to climb from the wreckage, his night would come to an end.
“It was a bummer to have our night end like that, but up until the wreck it was going really well for us,” Carrick added.
