PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting two more winged sprint car races in over the weekend, Blake Carrick would bounce back from a tough Friday night at Ocean Speedway with a seventh place finish on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.

“Friday night we were in a spot to transfer out of the ‘B’, but I made a mistake in turn two and it cost us,” Blake Carrick said. “Saturday night we continued to run well at Placerville and we were able to pick up a seventh place finish.”

Traveling to Ocean Speedway to take on the Civil War Sprint Car Series during the Howard Kaeding Classic on Friday night, Carrick would get his night started off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil entry in 24th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Chasing after older brother, Tanner, in heat race action, Carrick would finish in the fifth position which would force him into the ‘B’ Main where he would roll off the starting grid from the eighth starting spot.

Needing to finish inside the Top-six to keep his night going, Carrick would turn in some strong laps early that saw him get up into the sixth and final transfer position. The exit of turn two would prove to be tricky for most and it would bite Carrick as he would slip up and slide back to seventh where he would finish and ultimately end his night.

Down but not out, Carrick and his team would make the return trip to Placeville Speedway, a track that Carrick has continued to make gains at in the previous weeks.

Timing in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials, Carrick would pick up a third place finish in heat race action and find himself in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the eighth pill, Carrick would take the green flag from the fourth row outside alongside Justyn Cox. Continuing to run well on the tricky ¼ mile bullring, Carrick would hold strong inside the Top-10 as he battled with some grizzled veterans.

Finding himself in a fight with brother, Tanner, late in the race, Carrick would end his weekend with a seventh place finish.

“It was awesome to get back in the Top-10,” Blake Carrick said. “It is nice to make laps, and even better to start getting competitive. Thanks to my family and this team for all they do.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will be back in action on Friday night in Watsonville, CA before traveling to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday.
