PETERSEN MEDIA: Kicking the 2020 season off over the weekend by traveling to Arizona to meet up with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, Blake Carrick would build off of Friday night’s run and successfully make his first ever National tour feature event on Saturday.

“Our results weren’t spectacular, but it was a pretty loaded field and we had a lot of speed which was really nice,” Blake Carrick said. “I felt pretty good, and felt like I got better all weekend long, so hopefully we can keep that trend going this week.”

Friday night saw the young Lincoln, CA pilot check in at Canyon Speedway Park and line up fifth in his heat race. Slipping back to a seventh-place finish, Carrick would take the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed machine to the night’s “B” main.

Lining up 16th in the “B’, Carrick would go to work on the slick surface. With his elbows up, Carrick would look to make a big run and punch his ticket into the feature event. Slicing and dicing his way forward, Carrick would crack the Top-10 as the laps clicked away. Able to get into sixth, Carrick would narrowly miss out on a transfer position as he closed his Friday night out.

Back in action on Saturday, Carrick continued to show the speed he displayed in Friday night’s ‘B’ as he picked up a third-place finish in his heat race.

Moving into a qualifier, Carrick would pick up the win which put him 10th in points and locked him directly into the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 10th starting position, the ultra-slick surface would prove to be a little tricky in the early laps as he lost some track position. As the rubber started to go down on the speedway, it would make it extremely difficult to make up those lost spots.

When the checkered flag few on the event, Carrick close the night with a 20th place finish.

“Thanks to everyone who made the weekend possible,” Carrick said. “I was happy with how my car felt, and am looking forward to Merced, Placerville, and Petaluma this weekend.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake gets right back to work this weekend as he will battle with the Lucas Oil ASCS National tour on Friday night at Merced Speedway, Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, and Sunday night at Petaluma Speedway.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-2, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-0
