PETERSEN MEDIA: Blake Carrick returned to racing action on Friday night in Chico, CA after taking a couple of weeks off. Finishing seventh during the Tyler Wolf Memorial, Carrick now readies himself for King of the West Speedweek which kicks off tonight in Merced, CA.
“After a couple weeks away, it was great to back to racing on Friday night,” Blake Carrick said. “I am looking forward to getting the 410ci engine in, and running 4 King of the West races this week.”
Friday night in Chico, CA the SCCT format was in use and the Lincoln, CA driver would time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B entry in third fastest in his qualifying group.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick would settle into the second position as the field settled into green flag action. Finishing second, Carrick would miss out on the redraw by just one position and would line up 9th in the 25-lap Tyler Wolf Memorial feature event.
When the feature event went green, Carrick would spin his tires in some grease that was on the speedway and would fall back to 12th during the race’s opening circuit.
As the race settled into a bit of an extended green-flag run, Carrick would start to make up for the early lap bobble as he began working his way back forward inside the Top-10.
Continuing to race his way forward, Carrick would cap his Wolf Memorial off with a seventh-place finish, as he now readies for a four-night speedweek with the King of the West Series.
“We had a good car on Friday night, and like I said, it felt good to get back to racing action,” Carrick said. “Excited for four nights of 410ci action this week.
