PETERSEN MEDIA: In his second weekend of action aboard a Keith Kunz Motorsports midget, Blake Carrick would turn some heads on Saturday night in Pevely, MO as he charged from his 18th starting position and finished ninth with the Lucas Oil POWRi Series.

“I learned a ton over the weekend and had a lot of fun,” Blake Carrick said. “I have to thank this entire Keith Kunz team for everything.”

Saturday night in Pevely, MO, Carrick would see his night start by lining up in the second row of his heat race with POWRi using a draw show format. Battling some of the best midget drivers in the country, Carrick would finish fifth which placed him in the night’s ‘B’ Main.

Lining up fourth in the semi, Carrick turned in an extremely impressive performance that saw him pick up the ‘B’ Main win and punch his ticket into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the 18th starting spot.

On the racy I-55 Raceway, Carrick would drive with poise and confidence as he worked around the high-banked facility picking up positions nearly at will. Continuing to run well, Carrick would work his way into the Top-10 and finish the night with a very impressive ninth place finish.

Also in action in Belleville, IL on Friday night with the KKM team, Carrick would have a little bit of a learning curve as he acclimated himself to a midget.

Having a tough heat race draw, the youngster would line up seventh in his heat race and would finish there putting him in the semi where he would have one final chance to make his way into the feature event.

Lining up in the second row, Carrick would get off to a tough start as he would fade to the back of the pack in the opening laps. Gathering himself back up, Carrick would get his elbows up and fight back up to fifth.

With only four moving on, the Lincoln, CA driver would give it his all to secure a transfer position but would end up one spot short.

“Aside from everyone who works on these cars, I also have to thank my teammates for all their help as well,” Carrick added. “They were really good with advice and it means a lot.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Walker Performance Filtration, TRD, and Spike Chassis for their support.
