PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Chico, CA to take part in the Fall Nationals, Tribute to Stephen Allard over the weekend, Bubba DeCaires returned to the seat of the Dale Miller Motorsports entry to close out his rookie season aboard the potent No. 4SA machine.
“Our weekend started off slow, but we made some gains and got better every time out,” Bubba DeCaires said. “Dale has some awesome equipment and I really thank him for being so patient with me this season.”
With over 50 cars in attendance during both night’s of action, a tough qualifying effort on Friday night would put DeCaires and the Thompson’s Auto/RedHawk Casino/Dale Miller Septic mount in the Last Chance Qualifier.
Finishing sixth in the LCQ, DeCaires Friday night would come to an early end as the team worked hard through the day Friday to get the young Elk Grove, CA driver a little more comfortable.
Finding himself in the fifth row of the Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday night, DeCaires would take a page out of his father’s book and go to work on the bottom of the speedway. Patiently hitting his marks, DeCaires would advance from 10th to finish which was good enough to put him in the ‘B’ Main.
From the back of the ‘B’, DeCaires would continue to earn his money on the bottom groove, but in a very loaded semi, he would be unable to gain as much ground as he did in the LCQ, as he closed his rookie season out with a 14th place finish in the semi.
“It was funny to hear so many people come up to me and say I looked just like my dad rolling the bottom on Saturday night,” DeCaires added. “It was a great learning weekend, and I am just extremely thankful for the opportunity Dale Miller gave me this season. My season is over now, but I am already excited for 2019.”
