Bubba DeCaires Sixth in Tulare, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Tulare, CA on Saturday, Bubba DeCaires was able to build off of his season debut at the track as he picked up a sixth-place finish with the Kings of Thunder Series.

“After the Dennis Roth Classic finale, I really felt good with what we learned and was looking forward to getting back down to Tulare, CA this past Saturday to try again,” DeCaires said. “It was a good night for us. We battled in the Top-Five much of the race but got passed late and ended up finishing sixth.”

Checking back in at the high banked 1/3 mile oval for the third time already in 2023, the Elk Grove, CA opened the night up by timing the Thompson’s Toyota/Morrison Concrete/MaxSells.Net No. 94 in 12th fastest in time trials.

Slated to start sixth in his heat race, DeCaires was bumped up a row and took the green flag from the outside of the second row. Moving into third when his heat race came to life, DeCaires settled into the ‘show’ position and held the spot as the heat came to an end.

Putting himself in the sixth starting position for the start of the 25-lap feature event, DeCaires was able to work his way into fifth on the third lap as he was very strong on the high banked speedway.

Battling hard inside of the Top-Five, DeCiares would battle with Grant Duinkerken at the race’s halfway point, as the duo waged war for the final spot inside the Top-Five.

With Duinkerken winning the battle, DeCaires found himself in the sixth spot as laps quicky wound down. Unable to work back into the Top-Five in the final laps, DeCaires capped his night off with a sixth-place finish.

“The track was pretty wet in qualifying, and it was tricky to read and that hindered us a little, but we made some changes for the heat and I was really happy with how I felt,” DeCaires said. “We were good in the feature, but just started to get tight towards the end and we lost a spot in the top-five, but overall it was a good night.”

DeCaires would like to thank Thompson’s Toyota, Morrison Concrete, MaxSells.Net, Wion’s Body Shop, and El Dorado Hills Landscaping for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: DeCaires gets right back to action this weekend as he will be at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
