Carrick 12th with King of the West Series

PETERSEN MEDIA: With Northern California rain shaking up the schedule out West, Blake Carrick and team ended up in Stockton, CA for the opening round of action with the King of the West Series where he would pick up a 12thplace finish.

“It is always fun to get in the 410ci,” Blake Carrick said. “We haven’t done it a ton, so I feel like I am always learning when we do run it and Saturday was no different. “

Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in 15th fastest in qualifying time trials, Carrick found himself in a bit of an early hole.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would pick up a fourth-place finish on a surface that was unusually slick following rain leading up to the event.

Locked into the feature event, Carrick would take the green flag from the 13th starting position following a complete track rework that added some moisture into the surface.

Making some adjustments based on what they thought the track would do over the course of the 30-lap feature event, Carrick would get off to a bit of a slow start as he lost a few positions when the race came to life.

Setting in over the course of the 30-lapper, Carrick would get going the right way as he started to regain those lost spots.

Using a mid-race double file restart to his advantage, Carrick would get back up to the 12th spot as he battled with fellow drivers Justin Sanders and Sean Becker.

When the KWS opener drew to a close, Carrick would cap his night off with a 12th place finish.

“We got off to a slow start in time trials, and it just sort of put us in a hole all night long,” Carrick added. “Looking forward to getting down to Ocean Speedway and Placerville Speedway this weekend.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will be in action at Ocean Speedway on Friday night, and Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-7, Wins-1, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-5
