PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick has hit his stride over the summer of 2018 and has proven himself to a threat any given night. After taking on the World of Outlaws at Placerville Speedway on Wednesday night, Carrick rejoined the Keith Kunz Motorsports team over the weekend where he would flirt with wins on both Friday and Saturday night as he would finish second at Jacksonville Speedway before finishing third on Saturday at Spoon River Speedway.

“I had a rocket underneath me all weekend, and I owe it all to Keith, Pete, and the guys for all of their hard work,” Tanner Carrick said.

Taking on the POWRi Series on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, a tough draw would see the Lincoln, CA driver line the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis up in the fourth row of his heat race.

Having a ton of confidence of late, Carrick would get his elbows up and use a heavy right foot to work his way forward and pick up an impressive win that would help put him on the pole for the feature event.

Looking for his third midget win of the season, Carrick would get off to a great start as he work jump out to the early lead and begin leaving the field in his wake as he looked to have the race well at hand.

The laps clicked off, and Carrick continued to look really good out front, until bad luck found him with just 10-circuits left. Running over some debris early in the race, Carrick’s left rear would eventually let go and force him to stop and go to the work area.

Restarting from the tail with just 10-markers left, the hot-shoe would thrill the crowd as he forged his way back through the field and found himself in second. Battling with KKM teammate, Logan Seavey, Carrick would just run out of time as he capped a very strong night with a second place finish.

Spoon River Speedway on Saturday night saw the youngster again get off to a strong start to his night as he would win his heat race from the second row and find himself in the third starting position for the feature event.

Looking for redemption from Friday night, Carrick continued to put on a show as he jumped up into the lead and again looked extremely tough to beat early in the race.

Leading the way for 16 laps, Carrick would slip off the track in turn three and fall all the way back to fifth. Staying composed, he would get his elbows up and rally to score another podium as he finished in the third position.

“We had a great shot to win both nights, and as a team and a driver that is what you want,” Carrick said. “We will keep digging, and getting faster and hopefully stay in the hunt for wins.”

Wednesday night saw Carrick in action in his native California where he would take on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Placerville Speedway.

Timing the CVC backed No. 83T entry 16th quickest in qualifying time trials, an eventful heat race would see Carrick get caught up in someone else’s mess and get upside down in a big way.

In the pit area, Carrick’s crew would work hard to get the car ready for the ‘B’ Main and they would be successful, as Carrick would make the call. When the race came to life, bad luck would find him again as a broken driver line on the first lap forced him into the infield ending his night.

“Unfortunately Wednesday night we had bad luck in our heat race and we ended up flipping,” Carrick said. “My guys did a heck of a job getting us back out for the ‘B’, but a part failure on lap one ended our night. I really have to thank everyone who helped us thrash.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.
