PETERSEN MEDIA: A great weekend of racing action with Keith Kunz Motorsports saw Tanner Carrick finish third on Saturday night at Route 66 Dirt Track with USAC, and third on Sunday Night at Lincoln Speedway with POWRi.
“We had really good speed all week, I feel like I am getting my confidence back, and it was a really good weekend,” Tanner Carrick said.
Saturday night at Route 66 Dirt Track in Illinois, Carrick kicked the night off by timing the Craftsman/TRD/Spike Chassis backed no. 71K machine in 11th quickest in qualifying time trials before racing his way to a heat race win.
Lining up in the sixth row for the feature event, Carrick would go to work on the big curb as he worked his way forward and soon found himself battling with fellow Keith Kunz teammate Tucker Klaasmeyer, as they chased after more KKM drivers in Kyle Larson and Logan Seavey who ran up front.
Getting into the Top-Five, Carrick continued to charge forward and would assume the final spot on the podium in the race’s closing laps.
Fresh off the third place finish, Carrick and his KKM team made the trip to Lincoln, IL for some Sunday night POWRi Midget action.
Finishing fourth in his heat race on Sunday, the Lincoln, CA driver would move into the feature event where he again would roll off the starting grid from the 11th starting position.
Just as he did on Saturday night, Carrick moved forward as he showcased a very strong Keith Kunz Motorsports machine on this night. Able to get up into third again, Carrick would chase after Seavey and Christopher Bell in the closing laps.
When the dust settled, Carrick capped his very strong weekend with his second consecutive podium.
“If we can just put ourselves in a better position to start these feature events I think we will be contending for some wins,’ Carrick said. “Thanks to all the guys that work on this car, and really have it strong.”
