PETERSEN MEDIA: Battling with the Lucas Oil POWRi Midget Series over the weekend at Belle Clair Speedway, Tanner Carrick would overcome heat race adversity both nights as he raced his way from the back of the pack to record 16th place finishes both Friday and Saturday night.

“We had issues in our heats both nights, and it relegated us to the ‘B’ mains both nights,” Tanner Carrick said. “My guys gave me a great car and both nights we came from the middle of the ‘B’, and finished 16th in the features.”

Friday night saw Carrick line the TRD/Curb Records/Spike Chassis backed No. 71k entry up on the front row of his heat race. Jumping out to the early lead, Carrick looked strong out front. Clicking off good laps, the Lincoln, CA pilot would make a mistake and it would result in him spinning his machine out and forfeiting the top spot.

Finishing fifth in the heat race, Carrick would have his work cut out for him as he would line up eighth in his ‘B’ Main. With a strong Keith Kunz Motorsports machine underneath him, Carrick had his elbows up as he was able to race his way into a transfer position and move into the feature event.

Lining up 23rd on the field, Carrick would continue to have to pass cars, as he was able to make up ground in the finale. Working in traffic with some tough cars, Carrick would fight forward to record a 16th place finish at the stripe.

Saturday night saw Carrick kick his night off by lining up in the second row of his heat race. Getting off to a good start again, Carrick’s heat race misfortune would show up again as he would be caught up in a wreck, which relegated him to a sixth place finish and put him in the last row of his ‘B’ main event.

Just as he did on Friday night, Carrick put on a show in the semi. Not to be denied on this night, Carrick would surge to the fourth and final transfer spot as he punched his ticket back to the feature event where he again would take the green flag from the 23rd starting position.

On the small confines of Belle Clair Speedway, Carrick again was able to make some moves in dense traffic. Working his way through the field, Carrick would end Saturday night just as he ended Friday night and that is with a 16th place finish.

“Some misfortune in the heat race on both nights really changed our weekend’s outlook,” Carrick added. “I really have to thank everyone at KKM for all they do for me night in and night out.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Walker Performance Filtration, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will venture home this weekend as he is slated to pilot the family owned sprint car on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA.
