PETERSEN MEDIA: A busy week of racing for Tanner Carrick saw him compete with two legendary sanctioning bodies as he took part in the BC39 even with the USAC National Midget Series before making his Gold Cup Race of Champions debut with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
“It was a really busy week of racing, but it was a lot of fun,” Tanner Carrick said. “I have to thank Keith and Pete, and everyone at KKR for their hard work as well as Clarke and my family and everyone associated with the Tanner Carrick Racing team.”
Carrick opened Wednesday night up at the Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway where a unique format would simply see the Lincoln, CA driver run a heat race where he would end up finishing in the sixth position.
Returning on Thursday to run qualifiers and feature events, Mother Nature would have a different idea where the program would shift to just qualifiers and the feature event, with preliminary races getting scrapped.
Lining up in the night’s second qualifier of the night, Carrick would finish sixth aboard the CVC/Toyota TRD/Spike entry and with the rest of the program being cancelled his night would come to an end.
Making the trip to California to take part in the Gold Cup Race of Champions on Friday and Saturday night, Carrick would time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil Entry in 10th fastest in qualifying time trials against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Slipping back to finish seventh in his heat race, Carrick would move into the Last Chance Showdown where an eighth place finish would end his night and force him to prepare for Saturday night’s finale.
Timing in 13th in his time trial flight on the final night of action at Silver Dollar Speedway, Carrick would battle with Logan Schuchart and Brent Marks in heat race action before a seventh place finish again put him in the night’s semi.
Battling with Bobby McMahan and Jason Sides in the semi, Carrick would vie for one of four tickets into the feature event but when the checkered flag flew the youngster’s seventh place finish ended his weekend.
“It was a ton of fun and some cool experiences all week long,” Carrick said. “We just really needed to qualify better in the World of Outlaws format. I am looking forward to trying again on Wednesday night before heading to the Midwest for some midget racing.”
Before the jet setting from Indianapolis to California, Carrick was also in a pair of POWRi shows at Lake Ozark Speedway. Having a great Labor Day Weekend, Carrick would flex his muscles and earn a pair of third place finishes as he was in the mix for the feature event win during both nights of action.
