Carrick Third at Valley Speedway with Petry Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: Reuniting with Petry Motorsports over the Memorial Day Weekend for a trio of races, Tanner Carrick would have a ton of speed during the busy stretch that was highlighted by a third place run on Sunday night.

“We had a really fast car all three nights, I just needed to have a little good luck on my side,” Tanner Carrick said. “Sunday night it took rubber and I burnt my tire up late and I really think that cost us a shot at the win because we were really good.”

Carrick spent Friday and Saturday night at Port City Raceway in Oklahoma as he made his first appearance with the Petry Motorsports team since they kicked their season off in Florida back in February.

Timing in 24th fastest on Friday night, Carrick would pick up a third-place finish in his heat race aboard Arai/K1 Race Gear/Mobil1 backed entry.

Lining up 22nd in the feature event based off of his qualifying lap, Carrick would proceed to put on quite a charge forward. On the racy Port City Raceway surface, the Lincoln, CA driver was able to work his way into the Top-10. When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, Carrick crossed the finish line with a ninth-place finish.

Back to work on Saturday night for the finale, Carrick would get his night off to a better start as he timed in 14thfastest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, Carrick would narrowly miss out on the direct transfer into the feature and took a detour into the nightly ‘B’.

Unable to make the transfer, Carrick would utilize a USAC provisional to start the ‘A’, and took the green flag from the 23rd starting position. Just as he did during Friday night action, Carrick would work his way through the field from the tail end of the field.

Unable to quite get up into the Top-10, Carrick would pick up a 12th place finish to close out the weekend with USAC.

Sunday night the team made the trip to Valley Speedway in Missouri and met up with the POWRi series. Getting off to a strong start in heat race action, the Lincoln, CA driver would pick up the heat race win and move into the feature event.

On the slick surface, Carrick would take the green flag from the second row as he chased after Justin Grant and Thomas Meseraul form the drop of the green.

Keeping the lead duo in striking distance, Carrick would continue to battle as the track continued to go away and became hard on tires.

Continuing to pound the top, Carrick looked poised to make a late race move with much of the field on the bottom of the speedway, but in the race’s waning laps Carrick’s worn out right rear would hamper him a bit as he capped the weekend off with a third place finish.

“I have to thank this Petry Motorsports team for all of their hard work,” Carrick said. “It felt good to get back with them this weekend and looking forward to another race weekend coming up.”

Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
