PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning home to California for a few weeks before his travels take him back to Australia, Carson Macedo made a rare non-winged appearance with Tarlton Motorsports during the 78th Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix in Ventura, CA and made it memorable as he picked up the Thursday night feature event win.
“I can’t thank the Tarlton’s enough for letting me shed the wings and go have some fun on Thanksgiving,’ Carson Macedo said. “Paul Baines really have me a great car and it is pretty cool to get a non-winged win during a prestigious event.”
Locking into the feature event by way of a Wednesday night showing that saw him charge to second in his heat race, fourth in his qualifier, and third in the Fast Dash, Macedo would grid the field from the third starting position for the 30-lap feature event.
Chasing after CJ Leary in the early goings of the feature event aboard the potent Tarlton and Son, Inc./Elite Landscape Construction/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino machine, Macedo would power his way into the race lead on the 14th lap.
Out front, Macedo was able to move around the race track and keep the field at bay though a flurry of restarts would see the Lemoore, CA driver fend off a few attempts to overtake him.
Hitting his marks beautifully on the tight confines of Ventura Raceway, Macedo would beat the field back to the line to claim the Battle at the Beach win during the famed Turkey Night Grand Prix.
“It is pretty cool to take a winged team and run as well as we did and grab the win without the wings,” Carson Macedo said. “Paul Baines hardly works on them, I hardly drive them so it was just a really fun night overall bouncing ideas around and really putting a fast car on the track. Again, huge ‘thank you’ to Tom and Tommy Tarlton, and everyone associated with this team.”
