PETERSEN MEDIA- A wet off season finally turned to a dry season opener on Saturday night, and Cody Lamar took full advantage as he made the trip to Placerville Speedway to battle with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“Our night started off well,” Cody Lamar said. “We had good speed through hot laps, time trials, and our heat race, but in the feature I made a mistake that ended our night as I got upside down in one of the most gentle ways possible.”

With 32 cars on hand, the Sacramento, CA pilot would time his A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9L machine in fifth quickest in his qualifying group.

Running heats with each drivers qualifying group on this night, Lamar would find himself in the fifth position to take the green flag as he would simply need to maintain the position to transfer into the feature.

Working around the Placerville Speedway, Lamar would improve his position by one spot as he would finish fourth and punch his ticket into the 35-lap Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event.

Lining up 15th, Lamar would work his way towards the Top-10 in the opening portion of the race before hanging his right rear off the edge of turn one and two and coming to a stop on the seventh circuit.

Able to restart from the tail end of the field, Lamar’s night would come to an end on the ninth lap when he would hook a rut in turns three and four getting his machine upset and ultimately bringing it to a rest upside down.

Thought the damage was minimal and Lamar was just fine, his night would come to an end.

“I have to thank all the people that helped get this car together over the off season, and Lee Lindgren and Tanner Thorson for all of their help on Saturday night,’ Lamar added. “I was please with how everything felt with the new car and am looking forward to getting back after it.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP: Lamar is slated to return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
