PETERSEN MEDIA- Cody Lamar was able to get two nights of racing in over the weekend as he finished ninth on Friday night in Watsonville, CA before a tough night in Petaluma, CA saw him end up seventh in the ‘B’ Main.

“Friday night was a solid night for us,” Lamar said. “We don’t get to Watsonville much so to come away with a Top-10 is great. Saturday night we had some issues, but we still were able to get some good laps in but we just came up short.”

Making the trip to Ocean Speedway Friday night, Lamar timed the A1 Septic/Amsoil/Walker Performance backed No. 9L machine in 13th quickest amongst the 25 drivers that checked into the pit area.

Just missing the heat race inversion, Lamar would line up in the third row of his heat race where a sixth place finish would force him into the night’s ‘B’ Main event. Taking care of business in the semi, the Sacramento, CA driver was able to pick up the win and keep his night going as he transferred into the feature event where he lined his machine up in the seventh row.

On an extremely slick racing surface, Lamar was able to make up some ground in a fast paced, action packed 30-lapper. Working his way into the Top-10, Lamar would get into ninth just before the field was given the checkered flag.

Hoping to build off of a Top-10, Lamar and company would meet the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for the series’ third event of the season.

Again getting an uncharacteristically bad lap in time trials, Lamar would time in eight quickest in his qualifying group and find himself buried in his heat race.

Having suspension issues in his heat, Lamar would get credited with a 10th place finish and would find himself in the ‘B’ Main where he would be last on the starting grid.

With his hands full, Lamar would do everything he could to make up ground and inch his way closer to the feature event. Able to work his way into the Top-10, Lamar would get into ninth but ran out of time and brought his night to an end.

“Petaluma is somewhere we have ran well at in the past so it was a little disappointing,” Lamar added. “We will take this weekend off and see what we can do in Fernley, NV in a couple of weeks.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Amsoil, Walker Performance Filtration, and Joe Hunt Magnetos for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: Cody Lamar returns to action in Fernley, NV on May 12th with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
