PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting one more night of racing in at Placerville Speedway before this weekend’s Nor-Cal Posse Shootout at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds facility, Colby Copeland continued to show speed at the ¼ mile as he recorded a fourth place finish.

“We have been pretty good at Placerville Speedway the last two times we have ran there, and I think we learned a little something in the feature event on Saturday night,” Copeland said. “It is a big race week for our team, and I am very much looking forward to the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout.”

Timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes No. x1jr machine in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials amongst the 29 cars that were checked into the pit area, the Roseville, CA driver would work from fourth to second in his heat race and make himself eligible for the top-eight redraw.

With a little bit of luck on his side, Copeland will find himself with the three-pill, meaning he would take the green flag for the 25-lap affair from the third starting position.

On a very racy Placerville Speedway, Copeland would jump into the third spot on the race’s opening lap but would find himself back in fourth on the next lap. Continuing to run fourth, Copeland would lose a position on lap 10 as he found himself in the fifth spot.

Getting back to fourth on the 12th circuit with a driver slowing in front of him, Copeland would begin to battle with Sean Becker as they jockeyed for third. Going back and fourth for five laps, Copeland couldn’t keep Becker at bay as he would fall back to fourth where he would go on to finish.

“We were just lacking a little speed in the feature, but we were still really good,” Copeland said. “This team is feeling really confident at Placerville Speedway and we are ready for this weekend’s two night race.”

Copeland and F&F Racing would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2017.
