PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Cole Macedo would have a very strong night that resulted in a hard fought second place finish in what was a thrilling feature event.
“All in all it was a really good night for our race team,” Cole Macedo said. “We were fast all night long, we just unfortunately got beat right at the end. Thanks to Paul Baines and my dad for giving me a great car, and the Tarlton’s for letting me get a race in.”
Macedo would open the night up by timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum machine in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials before picking up a heat race win in dominating fashion.
Making his way into the feature event, Macedo would waste no time working his way to the point, as he looked to pick up his first feature event win of the 2019 season.
Looking very good, Macedo would do a great job of keeping the field at bay as he worked around the ¼ mile Marysville Raceway facility. As the laps clicked down, Macedo would soon feel pressure from Marysville’s opening night winner, Michael Ing.
With just a couple laps left in the race, Macedo would see Ing sneak around him and take over the race lead just before taking the white flag. Slipping back to second, Macedo would give it his all but would come up just short as he would close the night out with a second place finish.
“I have to give credit to Michael Ing, he took advantage of being in second, found the line, and got by us,” Macedo said. “It stings a little, but it is great to know we have a really strong racecar.”
