PETERSEN MEDIA: Debuting his Steven Tiner Racing No. 94 machine on Friday night with the Civil War Series Presented by Flowmaster, Steven Tiner’s night would get cut short by five laps as contact while running inside the Top-10 would send him spinning through the infield.
“It was a disappointing way for our night to end, but I was pleased with how everything went considering it was our first night out,” Steven Tiner said. “It was a pretty tough task to get everything ready to go for the race, so I want to thank those that helped me get everything finished.”
With 43 cars in the Silver Dollar Speedway pit area for the opening round of the Civil War Series, Tiner got off to a fast start as he timed his machine in second fastest during qualifying time trials.
Getting moved to the front row of his heat race as the original front row was penalized, the Visalia, CA driver would take advantage of the prime starting spot as he picked up the win aboard his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 machine.
With the heat win, Tiner would move into the night’s Dash where a sixth place finish would line him up in the third row of the 30-lap A Main event.
As the race went green, Tiner would battle with Bryan Clauson and Skyler Gee as they battled for position inside the Top-10. Working around the Silver Dollar Speedway, Tiner would continue to hold his own inside the Top-10 as he battled with Andy Forsberg and Jason Statler as the laps clicked off.
With just five laps to go, a car would get out of shape in front of Tiner, and though he tried to avoid him, Tiner would get a piece of the action and his machine would spin into the infield where more contact would flatten his right-rear and his night would come to an end.
“We really would have liked to end our night with a good finish, but it wasn’t in the cards on this night,” Tiner added. “I had a lot of people help out at the track on Friday night, and I want to thank them for their hard work and giving me a really good car.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Elma Lanes, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-3, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-1
ON TAP: Tiner will be back in action on Saturday, April 9th at the Placerville Speedway.
