PETERSEN MEDIA- When plans were made for the 2022 season, Cook Motorsports intended on running a Washington based schedule with Jayson Bright, and a California and Oregon focused schedule with Sean Becker. With weather wreaking havoc in the Pacific Northwest thus far, Cook Motorsports has opted to move forward with their focus being on Becker as they hope to expand their schedule.
“With the way the weather has been in Washington to date, and some other conflicts that have arose, we have made the decision to make Sean Becker our focus for the duration of the 2022 season,” Blake Cook said. “Our team would like to wish Jayson Bright and his family all the best as they continue to compete in their family car. Hopefully down the road we can revisit this and put something together that suits both of us.”
With yet another cancellation hindering Cook Motorsports this coming weekend at Skagit Speedway, the team’s next event with will be ever popular Marvin Smith Memorial at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR May 28-29th.
“I have been having a ton of fun racing with Blake and the Cook Motorsports team,” Sean Becker said. “The car has been extremely fast at every track we have gone to. I am extremely grateful they want to race more with me, and I know we’re capable of winning wherever we show up.”
As the team continues to put the pieces together to add a 410ci engine to their arsenal, and are hoping to hit the King of the West event at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR the night before the Marvin Smith Memorial.
Another additional date for Becker and Cook Motorsports is the Summer Nationals at Chico, CA’s Silver Dollar Speedway on June 3rd and 4th.
While Cook Motorsports continues to make plans with Becker, the additional races are dependent on the team acquiring additional sponsorship to help offset the ever-rising fuel and Hoosier tire costs.
