Cox 10th With KWS Series at Petaluma Speedway

0089

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking on the King of the West Series on Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway, Justyn Cox would have an ‘ok’ night as he finished in the 10th spot.

“We basically started and finished mid-pack,” Justyn Cox said. “The track was a little tough to pass on, so we could get racing with guys around us, but we were never able to really get moving forward.”

Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31BC entry in 11th fastest, Cox would line up on the front row of his heat race. Spinning his tires on the start of the race, the Clarksburg, CA driver would not get off to a great start as he slipped back to finish in the fourth spot.

Moving into the 30-lap feature event at the Bay Area Bullring, Cox would line his PM Truck Repair/LRB/Konnected Klothing entry up in the sixth row. When the action came to life, Cox would work his way forward and get into the Top-10 in the opening laps of the race.

Able to hold his spot in the eighth spot, Cox would feel pressure from Kyle Hirst and Jason Statler near the race’s halfway point. With the two former Kings of California able to get by him, Cox would fall back to the 110h spot before the caution flag flew.

Unable to make any headway on the restart, Cox would keep a firm grasp on the 10th spot as he took the checkered flag.

“It was an okay night for us, but we were hoping to have a better run with a big week of racing coming up,” Cox added. “I want to thank my guys for all of their continued hard work, and despite Saturday’s result I am confident heading into Gold Cup.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-38, Wins-1, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-17

ON TAP: Cox will now gear up for the 63rd Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions that is scheduled to fire off in Chico, CA on Wednesday September 7th.
