PETERSEN MEDIA: Justyn Cox returned to action over the weekend refocused after a tough weekend. Running seventh at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, Cox would take on the KWS Saturday night in Placerville, CA where he would finish 11th.

“It was just nice to finally finish a race,” Justyn Cox said with a smile. “I was pleased with how our car felt with the 410 engine which is a good thing for us. We have been limited in 410 stuff with the issues we had in March so it really was a good weekend for us.”

Cox would kick his weekend off on Friday night in Chico, CA where he timed the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex machine in ninth fastest in time trials.

Finishing fourth in heat race action, Cox would sneak into the nightly redraw and find himself with the two pill. Lining up on the front row of the 25-lap race, Cox would run into some early issues as he would catch a hole wrong on the race’s opening lap and get off the racing surface.

Going to the back of the pack, Cox would search around the speedway looking for a line that worked for his car as he clawed his way back up to finish in the seventh position.

Heading to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the KWS-NARC event, Cox would show speed on the ¼ mile bullring as he timed in seventh fastest on this night.

Finishing sixth in his heat race, Cox would grid the field from the 11th starting spot in the 30-lap feature event. When the race came to life, Cox was able to pick up a few spots in the race’s opening laps as he ran eighth when the caution flew on lap five.

Running inside the Top-10 for much of the race, Cox would work the bottom of the speedway as he battled with the likes of Cory Eliason and Mitchell Faccinto. Working on the slick speedway, Cox would get out of shape just slightly and he would lose some hard fought track position.

Slipping back to the 11th spot, Cox would try to make up ground on one final restart but on this night he would take the checkered flag with an 11th place finish.

“We were pretty good in the feature Saturday night, but we just couldn’t seem to get any opening to move forward,” Cox added. “I was happy with how it felt all night long, and really feel like we have something to build off of.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!
