PETERSEN MEDIA: Forced to make a late week change of plans, Justyn Cox and the Cox Racing team pointed their rig towards Petaluma Speedway for Adobe Cup VII where the Clarksburg, CA driver would continue his strong Fall as he picked up a fourth place finish on Saturday night.

“It was another good night for our race team,” Cox said. “They put a different format in place and we made the qualifying deal and worked our way forward a little in the feature and finished fourth.”

Drawing for heat race starting positions and running a double heat program, Cox would line the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex machine up in the third row of his first heat race and score a third place finish before starting and finishing second in the final rounds of heat.

Sitting in the Top-7 in points, Cox would advance to a two-lap qualifying session where he would end up sixth quickest and line up in the sixth starting position for the 30-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Cox would settle into sixth on the hooked up and heavy Petaluma Speedway. On lap-10, Cox would make a nice move on the tip-top of turns one and two as he cracked the Top-Five and continued to fight for more.

Holding down fifth, Cox would make a similar move on the 24th circuit to take over the fourth position as he chased after Sean Becker, Kalib Henry, and Tanner Thorson who ran ahead of him.

Closing in on Becker, Cox would be unable to get by for the final spot on the podium as he continued to a strong string that saw him net another Top-Five finish by way of his fourth place effort.

“We could clear guys on top in one and two but you had to be careful getting up in the fluff,’ Cox said. “We had some good speed, and it is nice to get a good finish at Petaluma Speedway.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, Arai, Racing Optics, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2018!

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-37, Wins-2, Top 5’s-14, Top 10’s-19

ON TAP: Cox will be in action with both the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and King of the West Series on Saturday night in Hanford, CA. Cox will pilot the Josh Bates No. 42x in 360ci action and his family owned No. 31c in 410ci action.
