Cox Fourth at Petaluma Speedway with Sprint Car Challenge Tour

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing a recent string of top finishes at Petaluma Speedway, Justyn Cox and C &M Motorsports would have a nice showing at the 3/8-mile facility on Saturday night as their fourth-place finish now has them as the early season point leaders with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“Petaluma has really been tricky for me over the course of my career, but I knew that Cody and C&M Motorsports had a pretty good track record here over the years,” Justyn Cox said. “We had aa really good night, despite contact getting us into the wall and really messing our front end up.”

With 26 cars checking in on what was a damp Saturday night in Petaluma, CA, Cox would time the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber, Inc./Lund Construction backed entry in third fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the outside of the front row in heat race action, Cox found himself on the preferred groove as he was able to get the jump and never look back. Picking up the win, Cox moved into the High Sierra Industries Dash where his sixth place finish put him in the third row for the 35-lap feature event.

On a very sticky and fast Petaluma Speedway surface, Cox was able to move into the third position on a lap nine restart despite contact shoving him into the front stretch wall.

Running in third, Cox would do a great job of navigating the heavy surface with a heavily damaged front end before taking over the second position on the 16th lap.

Able to maneuver with the damage well in open track, when traffic came into play in the race’s closing laps, Cox would lose a couple of positions to Andy Forsberg and Ryan Bernal as he would slip back to the fourth where he ultimately went on to finish.

“Cody and the guys really gave me an awesome car, and I felt like we were right there in the mix,” Cox said. “We were still pretty good after getting into the wall, but late in traffic I couldn’t get turned and it cost us a few positions. Still, I am extremely thankful to be racing with Cody and Mandi on a weekly basis, and it is exciting to take the SCCT point lead into this weekend’s race.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports will travel to Chico, CA this weekend to take part in the inaugural Spring Nationals which will be highlighted by the David Tarter Memorial with the SCCT on Saturday night.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-8
