PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking on the World of Outlaws last week, Willie Croft had a very strong showing in Calistoga, CA as he charged from 21st to finish 11th on Saturday night.
“We had a slow start to the night, but ultimately we worked hard, and put a strong piece on the track for the feature event on Saturday night,” Croft said.
With 35 cars checked into the pit area on Saturday, Croft timed his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 machine in 21st fastest.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver was able to move into the fifth and final transfer position, and move directly into the 25-lap feature event.
Lining up in the 11th row of the A Main, Croft was strong as he picked his way through traffic. As the race wore on, Croft seemed to get better as he was able to make some strong passes as he inched towards the Top-10.
Battling with Justyn Cox and Kevin Swindell for the final few laps after a late red, Croft would end his night with a very strong charge to the 11th position.
“We got better and better as the night went on, and it was a good feeling to come out and charge like we did,” Croft added. “My guys worked hard, and kept chasing it, and I am happy with how we ended up.”
Croft was also in action on Wednesday and Sunday in Placerville, CA and at Calistoga, but did not have nights that he had hoped.
“We just got caught in the wrong place on Wednesday night in Placerville, CA, and got moved off the speedway, and on Sunday night we just were not very good,” he added. “
