PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night, Willie Croft reunited with the King of the West Series after an extended late summer break in the schedule and raced his way to a fourth place finish during the series’ final visit of the year to Kern County Raceway Park.

“Kern is a place we always seem to race really well at, and Saturday we had another pretty good run,” Willie Croft said. “Hopefully we can put together two good runs at Hanford and Stockton the next couple of weeks and we will see how the points shake out.”

Saturday night at Kern County Raceway Park, Croft got the night underway by timing the Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29  machine in fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Croft would pick up a position and finish third on the slick 3/8 mile oval. By way of his heat finish and his qualifying effort, the Roseville, CA driver would garner enough points to earn a spot in the nightly Dash.

Picking up a second place finish in the Dash, Croft moved into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the front row alongside Dominic Scelzi. When the race came to life, Scelzi and Croft would drag race into turn one and two with Croft holding the slim advantage briefly as they raced side by side into turns three and four.

With Scelzi able to clear Croft coming to complete the first lap of the race, Croft would settle into second though Bud Kaeding, Chase Johnson, and Ryan Bernal were all coming after him.

Reaching the back of the field, Croft would continue to keep Scelzi in his crosshairs, but on the 10thlap Kaeding would get by Croft as traffic continued to thicken.

Running in the third position as laps continued to click off, Ryan Bernal would see a gap in traffic as he closed in on Croft and he would take the final spot on the podium with just 10-to-go in the race.

Able to maintain his position inside the Top-5 the final laps of the race, Croft would take the checkered flag with a fourth place finish.

“Things got a little tricky in traffic there towards the end of the race and we lost a couple of spots,” Croft said. “Thanks to my guys for what they continue to do for me. Looking forward to this weekend’s Cotton Classic in Hanford, CA.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Factory Kahne, Schoenfeld, Team Simpson, Stilo, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, AL Drivelines, XYZ, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, DoTerra and GUTS for their support in 2019.
