Dakota Albright 2nd in BCRA Lighting Sprint Appearance

PETERSEN MEDIA- With unforeseen mechanical issues sidelining the Spencer Motorsports No. 34 on Saturday night, Dakota Albright was able to pivot back to his roots as he drug his BCRA Lightning Sprint out to Antioch Speedway and picked up a second place finish.

“Unfortunately, we had some issues arise after our last race with the Spencer Motorsports team, and last week the parts we were waiting for didn’t end up being everything we needed, and it forced us to sit a week out,” Dakota Albright said. “With all of the weather, I wanted to race so we drug the Lighting Sprint out and had some fun at Antioch Speedway.”

Timing his entry in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Waterford, CA driver lined up on the front row of his heat race. With a couple of Winged 360ci Sprint Car starts under his belt thus far in 2024, Albright was able to use some of what he has learned to his advantage as he jumped out to the lead and never looked back.

Picking up the heat race win, Albright locked himself into the fourth starting position the BCRA Lighting Sprint feature event.

When the race went green, Albright got tight on the race’s first lap and as he caught a rut and biked he slipped all the way back to last in the running order.

Settling back in, Albright went to work as he raced around the tricky Antioch Speedway surface that was offered up on Saturday night.

Slicing and dicing his way through the field, Albright was able to work his way back up to second when the checkered flag flew on the event.

“I felt really good in our heat race, but in the main we were a tick off,” Albright said. “I definitely was able to use some of what I have learned in the Sprint Car so far, so that was good for sure. I also want to thank my Uncle Jim for being able to come along and help with the last minute change of plans.”
