PETERSEN MEDIA- Though admittedly not one of his best tracks on the schedule, Daryn Pittman shined at the home track on Roth Motorsports as he picked up a second place finish on Saturday night in Tulare, CA.

“I was really pleased with how we were on Saturday night,” Daryn Pittman said. “We had been good on the ½ mile so to get into California and run well on a short track feels really good. Being so close to the Roth Motorsports shop, it is also great to run well in front of so many supporters of our team.”

With Friday night being washed out, DP and company took to the high banked 1/3 mile oval on Saturday night and kicked the night off by timing the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation No. 83 entry in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Settling into second in his heat race, the Owasso, OK driver would feel pressure from Shane Stewart for the second and final berth into the all-important Dash. Able to fend off the fellow Okie, Pittman would hold the spot and transfer into both the Dash and the Feature.

Starting and finishing second in the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash, Pittman was in a great spot to go after his third World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win of the young 2019 season.

When the race came to life, Pittman would slip back to third as he gave chase to Ian Madsen and second running, Tim Shaffer. In a fast paced event, Pittman would keep pace with Shaffer and make his move for the second position on the 10th circuit.

Racing in traffic, Pittman would shave Madsen’s once sizeable lead down but simply couldn’t get closer than just a few car lengths to the leader. When the checkered flag flew, Pittman would cap his night with his second consecutive second place finish.

“Ian Madsen was really good, and just beat us tonight,” Daryn Pittman said. “The rain really gave us a different track for the second part of the night but it is what it is. Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for giving us really good equipment. We will take this second place finish and head north this weekend.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, Wicked Cushion, and Team Simpson for their support in 2019.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 7, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 6, Top 10’s: 7
