PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night at the Attica Raceway Park, David Gravel and his Destiny Motorsports team put on a strong charge with the World of Outlaws as the Watertown, CT driver charged from his 11th starting position to tally a third place finish.

“It is great to get on the podium for the second consecutive race,” David Gravel said. “This team has been working so hard, and it’s really nice to get the finishes the guys deserve.”

40 cars checked into the Attica Raceway Park on Friday night for the Kistler Engine Classic, and Gravel got the night started off by timing the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in 10th fastest.

Sharing the front row of his heat race with Kerry Madsen, Gravel would settle into the second spot, where he would finish, and transfer into the night’s 40-lap feature event.

From his sixth row starting spot, Gravel was patient in the early goings of the race on the extremely slick Attica Raceway Park racing surface. Running inside the Top-10, Gravel would sit in the ninth position when the caution flag flew on the 15th lap.

The ensuing restart saw Gravel make the move of the race as he put the Rick Rogers Construction /Champion Brand Lubricants/Maxim Chassis on the cushion and surged forward and took over the fourth spot as he began chasing after Joey Saldana for the final spot on the podium.

Reeling Saldana in by the 25th lap, the duo would battle for the second spot for five laps, as Gravel would hold the advantage in turns one and two, though Saldana was a little better in turns three and four. Lap 29 saw Gravel again get the spot off of turn two, and beat Saldana into turns three and four as he rode the cushion to take over the third spot.

Over the final 10-laps of the race, Gravel would get close to second running Cody Darrah, but would come up just short as he took the checkered flag in the third spot, marking the Destiny Motorsports team’s second consecutive podium finish.

“We weren’t able to take care of business from the front row of our heat race, but we had an awesome car in the feature,” David Gravel added. “I really have to thank Scott Benic, Hub, and Lee for their hard work, as well as Rick and Barb Rogers for supporting this team.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Destiny Motorsports and David Gravel will be in action on Wednesday night at the Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, IN before heading to the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE on Friday night, and the Lakeside Speedway in Lakeside, KS on Saturday night.
