Dawson Hammes Battles Hard for Marysville Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA: Amidst a wild feature event in Marysville, CA on Saturday night, Dawson Hammes rallied from an early tangle and picked up a ninth-place finish.

“We had a good car all night, and we were able put ourselves in a good spot for the feature,” Dawson Hammes said. “We got tangled up on the first lap and had to go to the work area and then did what we could to get back into the Top-10.”

Timing the Movement Brewing/STS Farming/All About Fire Protection backed No. 55D in 11th fastest in time trials amongst the 25 cars checked into the pit area, Hammes lined up on the front row of his heat race.

Getting the jump when the heat came to life, Hammes never looked back as he secured the win and locked himself into the all-important nightly redraw.

Pulling the four, the Marysville, CA driver lined up in the second row of the 25-lap feature event. With a big pile up taking place on the initial start, Hammes avoided it and found himself on the front row for the second attempt at getting the race started.

The next start then saw Hammes get together with another car and endure damage to his front end and force him to the work area. Needing his front end replaced, Hammes’ team went to work and made the changes necessary to get him back on track.

Restarting from the back of the pack, Hammes did what he could as he piloted a bit of a battered car despite the efforts to get him back on track. Carefully working around Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Hames worked his way back into the top-10 when the wild 25-lapper came to a close as he finished the night off with a ninth-place finish.

“I missed it a little in time trials, but we still timed in good enough to put ourselves in the redraw,” Hammes added. “We knocked our front end out at the start of the race and it was all hands on deck to get us back out. Thanks to my mom, my dad, Carson, Cody, Cole, Aly, and everyone that pitched in and helped in the work area.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.
