PETERSEN MEDIA- Hitting the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Greg DeCaires and his Dale Miller Motorsports team had another strong night of racing as ‘The Catfish” charged from his 11th starting spot to finish in the third spot.

“We drew a late pill for qualifying, but were able to put ourselves in the inversion,” DeCaires said. “Unfortunately I couldn’t take care of business from the front row of my heat race, but the guys worked hard, and we turned it into a nice night.”

25 cars packed the Placerville Speedway pits for what was the championship point opener for the sprint cars, and going out last in time trials, the Elk Grove, CA driver timed the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/Redhawk Casino No. 4SA machine in 11th fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, DeCaires started alongside Jake Morgan. In what was a very entertaining heat race, DeCaires and Morgan would have a hard fought battle with DeCaires crossing the stripe in the second position to move himself into the 25-lap feature event.

By way of his 11th quick qualifying efforts, DeCaires would line the Halk Equipment Rentals/NAAKE Suspension/A.R.T. Speed Equipment backed machine up in the sixth row on the ¼ mile bullring. Still in championship form from his 2014 campaign, DeCaires wasted no time working his machine to the front of the pack, as he flawlessly carved his way around the speedway through traffic.

By the time the race reached the halfway point, DeCaires had worked into the top-five and was battling with the lead pack as the caution flag flew. When the action resumed, DeCaires was able to work into the third spot as he began stalking Andy Gregg for the second position.

The two Placerville veteran drivers would duke it out for the second spot over the final few laps, but as the checkered flag flew, DeCaires was unable to grab the spot, but still landed on the podium for the second consecutive week at the track he calls home.

“I drove my tail off for this team in the feature,” DeCaires said. “Bill McClaren and Dale miller give me so much confidence, and are a great crew. We have some really good car speed, and good things are for sure to come.”

Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 2, Wins- 0, Top-5’s-2, Top-10’s-2

ON TAP: DeCaires and the Miller Motorsports team will be back at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the second installment of the Placerville Posse series.
