PETERSEN MEDIA- A tough night at the Placerville Speedway saw Greg DeCaires and his Dale Miller Motorsports string together a nice finish as the reigning track champion worked his way to a sixth place finish.
“The guys at the track did what they could to give us the best surface possible after a storm came through the area on Friday,” DeCaires said. “It was a tricky surface, and we struggled a little, but it was nice to get out of there with a sixth place finish after timing in behind the eight ball.”
Timing the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Thompson’s Auto Center/RedHawk Casino No. 4sa machine in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, DeCaires would take advantage of a prime heat race starting position.
Lining up on the pole of his heat, DeCaires would waste no time jumping out to the lead as he distanced himself from the field aboard his NAAKE Suspension/A.R.T./King Racing Products machine en route to the heat race victory.
By way of his win, DeCaires would secure a position in the Top-Eight redraw where the seven pill would line him up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
On a surface that would stay relatively narrow for the most part, DeCaires would battle with Logan and Tyler Seavey as well as Matt Peterson during the duration of the feature event. Just unable to find real estate to make serious headway, DeCaires would stay inside the Top-10, as he closed the night out with a sixth place finish.
“It was good to get out of there without tearing anything up,” he added. “We could have maybe forced the issue a few times for a spot, but it’s better to roll it back in the trailer a come out fighting this weekend.”
