PETERSEN MEDIA: While Justin Sanders’ early season Ocean Speedway winning streak came to an end on Friday night, the Aromas, CA pilot still have a very strong showing as he picked up a second-place finish at his home track.

“We honestly haven’t been great yet as we continue to play with things, but to end up with another top finish is pretty cool,” Justin Sanders said. “We are definitely learning some things that work and some things that don’t, so it was still a productive night.”

With 36 cars on hand Sanders timed the North County Plastering/Andy’s Construction/Roadside 24hr Service backed entry in second fastest in time trials before racing to a second-place finish in heat race competition.

Moving into the Dash, Sanders would finish sixth on the extremely slick surface and it would line him up in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

With the surface still extremely slick and turning abrasive, Sanders made some quick moves to work his way up into a battle for the lead. Jumping into the Top-Three by the seventh lap, Sanders would overtake the second position just before the halfway point.

Once in second, Sanders would chase after Bud Kaeding but with rubber going down on the speedway getting to Kaeding and getting by Kaeding two completely different tasks.

Able to apply pressure to Kaeding, Sanders would be unable to make a move by him and would settle for second at the line.

“Bud has been really good down there this year, so he is definitely making us work hard to get our car better,” Sanders added. “It has been a fun year thus far, and I hope we can keep it going in all of our cars.”

Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2021.

ON TAP: Sanders is slated to return to action on Friday night at Ocean Speedway, and Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
