PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Charlotte, NC over the weekend for the 8th Annual World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte, Lance Dewease and his Dietz Motorsports team had mechanical issues on Friday night before scoring a 15th place finish on Saturday night.
“We didn’t time in great for Friday, but we raced well on Friday, and Saturday night was a solid night overall,” Dewease said.
Friday night saw the Fayetteville, PA driver line the C.C. Dietz Builders/Conduit Connections/Hess Ornamental Iron No. 14 machine up in the third row of his heat race after timing in 29th quickest.
Making some quick moves, Dewease worked into the fourth spot, where he would finish, and successfully transfer into the Friday night feature event.
Lining up 22nd in the feature event, Dewease got off to a very nice start as he gained four positions in two laps, but he had an oil issue, and retired to the infield.
“We raced well in our heat race, and we were off to a good start in the feature, but we had some issues, and it ended our night early,” he added.
Back in action on Saturday night, after timing in 11th quickest during Thursday night’s time trial session, Dewease worked his way up to a third place finish, putting him directly into the 30-lap feature event with the World of Outlaws.
Lining up in the seventh row on the slicked off surface, Dewease battled with the likes of Dale Blaney and Rico Abreu during the duration of the feature as he battled in a pack between 12th-15th.
When the race came to a close, Dewease crossed the stripe with a 15th place finish in his final start with the World of Outlaws for the 2014 season.
“Not a bad weekend for us,” he added. “We had pretty good speed all weekend, and now we will look forward to Selinsgrove this weekend.”
