PETERSEN MEDIA: After a couple of off weeks on the King of the West Schedule, DJ Netto and the Tri-C Motorsports team returned to action with the series as they took the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night. A strong showing would see Netto grab a personal best fourth place finish on a track that has given him fits over the course of his career.
“It was a pretty good night for this race team,” DJ Netto said. “We had a good car, and it was by far my best finish at the Placerville Speedway.”
Timing the Tri-C Motorsports No. 3c in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials, Netto would race his way to a second place finish in heat race action and make the Tri-C Machine/All American Powder Coat/Shell Rotella T6 machine eligible for the night’s Dash.
A favorable redraw for Netto would see him pull the one pill, which put him on the pole of the Dash and his win would place him on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.
Slipping back to third when the race came to life, Netto would go to work on the bottom of the speedway. With much of the field also rolling the bottom the slightest hiccup would equal a loss of track position, so Netto was focused on hitting his marks.
Late in the race, Netto would overdrive his entry just enough to let Ryan Bernal sneak by and he would fall back to the fourth spot. Battling with Colby Copeland in the final laps, Netto would make a push to get on the KWS podium but would settle for a fourth place finish on this night.
“I just made a mistake on the start of the race, and one at the end that cost us a few positions, but I was really happy with the car,” DJ Netto said. “I often have issues at Placerville so it was good to be in the mix and in the hunt all night. Big thanks to Lee and Shane, as well as Clyde and Marion for this opportunity.”
ON TAP: Netto at the Tri-C Motorsports team will travel back to the Silver Dollar Speedway this weekend to take part in the Fall Nationals.
