PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing in the Tyler Wolf Memorial and Mark Forni Classic over the weekend, DJ Netto showed out as he finished third on Friday night in Chico, CA and fifth on Saturday in Placerville, CA limping home with a broken suspension.

“We were right there both nights in contention for wins,” DJ Netto said. “I have to thank Lee and my guys for working so hard to give me a good car.”

Friday night saw Netto and company travel to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night for the Tyler Wolf Memorial. Getting his night started by timing the famed Tri-C Motorsports sprinter in third quickest and then finishing fourth in his heat race.

Pulling the two pill, Netto would line his entry up on the front row for the 25-lap feature event. On the racy Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Netto would jump out to the early lead as he put the Tri-C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain No. 3c machine through it’s paces.

As the laps clicked down, Netto would continue to lead the way until the 20th lap when Sean Becker was able to race by him and take over the top spot. Holding on to second for the next few laps, a surging Kyle Hirst would get him with a couple to go, and he would finish out in the third spot.

Bolting the 360ci power plant in on Saturday night, Netto checked in at Placerville Speedway for the Mark Forni Classic. Timing in 14th quickest, Netto would get called for a jump in his heat race and be put back a row before finishing third and moving into the 25-lap finale.

Lining up 14th in the feature event, Netto was able to slowly work his way forward as things were pretty congested mid pack. Working into the Top-10, Netto used a lap 14 restart to surge forward from seventh to take the third spot.

A late yellow with three to go would bunch the field back up for one final restart, and as he idled under yellow it was apparent there was suspension issues on his machine. Holding the final three laps, Netto would lose a couple of spots but still finished fifth.

“We have gotten pretty good at Placerville as of late, and I had some fun in that feature,” Netto said. “Placerville always seemed to give me fits in seasons past, so it is really nice to be figuring it out finally.”

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-46, Wins-3, Top 5’s-19, Top 10’s-28
