PETERSEN MEDIA: Making one final start in California before heading back to Knoxville, IA to compete in his first Knoxville Nationals, DJ Netto had a great run as he charged from his 12th starting spot to finish third with the King of the West Series on Saturday night in Stockton, CA.

“We missed it bad in time trials, and that put us toward the back of the pack for each race we lined up in,” DJ Netto said. “Fortunately, we raced pretty well and were able to charge from 12th to third in our final start before heading to Knoxville, IA.”

A light car count on Saturday night would see Netto get off to a slower than desired start as he timed his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No. 88n entry in 12th fastest, before issues in his heat race relegated him to an eighth place finish.

With his crew getting his machine repaired for the feature event, Netto would grid the field form sixth row for the 30-lap feature event. A fast surface saw did not deter Netto, as he was able move forward as the race got underway and he worked his way into the Top-10. Taking advantage of some other driver’s misfortune, Netto would soon find himself in the Top-10 five as the race reached the half-way point.

Battling with Bud Kaeding and Evan Suggs, Netto would work his way into the third spot, where he ran when the red flag flew with 10-laps to go. A late restart would put Netto on the tail of the leaders, and though he would pressure Walker when the race resumed, Netto would hold down the third spot as the checkered flag flew.

“It was not our best night, but everyone worked hard to get us better each time we hit the track,” Netto said. “It was one of those night’s where your patience got tested, but it was nice to end our night on the podium.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, King Racing Products, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Netto will now head to Knoxville, IA as he is set for the Knoxville 360 Nationals that kick off this week.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-33, Wins-3, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-10
