PETERSEN MEDIA: DJ Netto had an up and down weekend. After putting together a very nice run on Friday night with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster, Netto fought mechanical gremlins during the early portion of Saturday night’s feature event before taking the checkered flag in the 12th spot.

“We were really good Friday night, and had quite the eventful night on Saturday,” Netto said. “Friday night we landed on the podium, and Saturday night we had some early mechanical issues that put us to the back all night, but I was really proud of how hard the team worked. We were able to dig out of a bit of a hole without having much time to work anywhere but under the hood.”

Friday night, DJ Netto and his DJ Netto Racing team were one of 30 cars checked into the pit area to kick off the HK Classic. Timing the Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No. 88n machine in fifth fastest. The Hanford, CA wheelman would then pick up a fourth place finish in his heat race and sneak into the Dash.

Finishing fifth in the six-lap Dash, Netto would line up in the third row for the 30-lap Howard Kaeding Classic feature event. A sticky and rough surface greeted teams on this night, and as the first 17-laps went caution free; Netto had muscled his way into the third spot.

When the race resumed, Netto would battle with second running, Shane Golobic as the race’s final laps clicked off in a hurry. Taking second on the white flag lap, Netto would do everything he could to make final charge at the leader and it would result in him finishing in the third spot at the stripe.

Getting the 410ci car ready for Saturday night’s King of the West bout, Netto would fight mechanical issues during hot-laps and time trials as he timed in 26th fastest.

Feverishly trying to rectify the problem, Netto would miss his heat race as his team continued to work and trouble shoot. Making the call for the B Main, Netto would line up in the fifth row, and work his way up to the fourth spot during a non-stop 12-lap shootout and transfer into the feature event.

Lining up in the 10th row of the feature event, the first half of the race was run at a rapid pace as track prep brought on an extremely fast surface. As the track began to go away, Netto was able to work his way toward the Top-10. Taking a couple of free spots due to attrition, Netto would end his night with a 12th place finish.

“Saturday night was frustrating,” Netto said. “It wasn’t anybody’s fault, and I really have to thank everyone that helped us out. In the end we were able to get some racing in, and hopefully this weekend we can get back up front.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, King Racing Products, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Netto will follow the King of the West Series to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
