Had to travel south for our Driver Of The Week after a few rainouts here in Northern California making the pickings slim with a front row winner most notable. Good thing Ojai’s Troy Rutherford did something only one other person has done in the history of the USAC/CRA Series, and that’s beat a field of 410s with a 360 motor at the tiny Ventura Speedway. Getting the RPMs up quickly is an advantage there and Rutherford rode that advantage to a convincing victory over the best wingless drivers in the state and earns our Driver Of The Week honors.
Honorable mentions to Kerry Madsen (Petersen Media client) for sweeping Eldora, and Chad Kemenah, who had two great runs behind Madsen, running to 2nd from 10th and 11th on consecutive nights.
