PETERSEN MEDIA- In action on Friday night for the second round of the King of Kings 360 Series at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA, Shawn Wright saw contact in the early goings of the feature event ultimately end his night prematurely.
“We were the first car out in time trials, and track sort of threw us a curve ball, and we found ourselves in an early hole,” Shawn Wright said.
With 19 cars on hand for the event, Wright would time the Wright Process Systems/A.R.T./Wilwood backed No. 99 machine in 12th fastest, just making the heat race inversion.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Lodi, CA native turned Tulare, CA resident would get a great jump, and grab the lead, as he went on to pick up the win, and move into the feature event.
Finding himself in the sixth row of the 30-lap feature event, Wright would get a little sideway exiting turn four, and another competitor made contact with his front end causing damage, and forcing Wright to the pit area.
Being a little shorthanded on this night, Wright would opt to call it a night, as he would be credited with an 18th place finish.
“We were shorthanded, so we just loaded it up after having some damage to our front end,” Wright added. “I have to thank everyone who supports our team, and hopefully we can have a better night this Friday night.”
