Early Tumble Ends Ryan Robinson’s Night at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway, an early tumble ended Ryan Robinson’s night early as he was battling for position with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“Unfortunately, I got up in the rough stuff trying to make some headway in the feature event, and it resulted in getting us upside-down and it ended our night,” Robinson said. “I hate it for Todd Weiher and the guys because we tore up a lot of equipment.”

With a light count on hand for the series’ first trip of the year to the Bay Area speed plant, Robinson got his night started by timing the Maki Farms Inc./LP Holdings/Roseville Precision Inc. backed No. 14w entry in fourth fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up int eh second row of his heat race, Robinson would get off to a nice start as he moved into the third position when the green flag was displayed. Hanging on to third when the checkered flag flew, Robinson went on to line the Weiher Racing entry up 10th for the 35-lap feature event.

With the track offering a little bit of everything on Saturday night, a slick bottom and choppy middle to top saw Robinson opt to run above the rest as he began his pursuit to the front.

After a couple of early stoppages, Robinson got a great start on a lap six restart but as he entered turns one and two, Robinson would get up on two wheels as he entered in the rough surface, he would lose it as his machine flipped violently as he got into the fence.

Able to escape from the wreckage unscathed, Robinson’s night would come to a disappointing end for the second week in-a-row.

“We had another good car, but I just didn’t have enough wheel spin to be up in the junk on that restart and it resulted in us getting upside down,” Robinson said. “We had just passed a car and had another run going but it didn’t work out.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Pettibone Builders, Sipes CC, The Holman Family, Square Tires, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-9, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: While Robinson heads to take part in this week’s Dirt Cup, the next event for the Weiher Racing team is TBD at this time.
