Faccinto and F&F Racing 2nd at Tribute to Al Hinds

PETERSEN MEDIA- The last three weeks, Michael Faccinto has been extremely proud of the progress the F&F Racing team has been making. Saturday night, Faccinto battled for the win at Placerville Speedway with Andy Forsberg, and ultimately settled for a strong runner-up finish.

“Alan and everyone put a great car out on the track every night, and it was a car extremely capable of winning the race,’ Faccinto said. “I made a mistake while leading, and you can’t do that when you’re racing a guy like Andy Forsberg, and it cost us a good chance at the win.”

With 20 cars checked in for the 20th running of the Tribute to Al Hinds, Faccinto got his night off to a strong start as he timed the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/RPI backed No. x1 in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

Gridding the field from the second row in his heat race, the Hanford, CA driver had a great run as he worked his way up to a second-place finish. By way of his finish, Faccinto was eligible for the redraw where the four pill later lined him up in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.

The waiving of the green flag on Saturday night saw Faccinto quickly slip into second as he chased after the early leader, Ashlyn Rodriguez. A couple of early stoppages led to a pair of double file restarts, and a lap four restart saw Faccinto power his way into the race lead.

Getting to the lead, Faccinto looked strong out front but soon felt pressure for Andy Forsberg. As the duo closed in on lapped traffic, a yellow flag would fly on lap 13 and set up another restart.

Once the action resumed, Faccinto continued to lead the way, but on the 14th lap he would leave the door open on the bottom in turns three and four, and it allowed Forsberg to sneak under and drop him back to second.

Back in second, Faccinto slipped back to fourth briefly as he battled with Tony Gomes and Jake Morgan. Working back into third, a late race battle with Morgan saw Faccinto get the runner up position back, and he went on to finish second.

“I am mad at myself, but still, really happy with our second-place finish, and really thankful for these guys working so hard to get me comfortable,” Faccinto added. “Merced is a cool track, and after our night at Placerville, I am looking forward to seeing what we can do dwon there this weekend.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Roseville Precision, Lucas Oil, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Sacramento Battery Company, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.
