Faccinto Eyes One Final Weeked with the World of Outlaws Before Shifting to King of the West Action

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to compete with the World of Outlaws during their Spring Break trip to California, Mitchell Faccinto and the Tarlton Motorsports team eye one final test against ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ before shifting their focus to King of the West action.

“Friday night we were a little off in qualifying and it set us back early in the night,” Faccinto said. “We went to work and raced into the feature in our heat race, but in the feature, I made too many mistakes that I couldn’t recover from.”

Though Mother Nature would shorten the scheduled double header weekend with the Outlaws, Friday’s showdown in Merced, CA went off without interruption as 33 cars checked into the pit area.

Opening the night up by timing the Tarlton and Son Inc./EZ Haul/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 machine in 18th in time trials, Faccinto would find himself in the third row of the night’s second heat race.

Able to use some Merced Speedway experience to his advantage, Faccinto would make a couple of quick moves to put himself safely inside a heat race transfer position. Able to settle into fourth, Faccinto would finish there and safely advance directly into the 35-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 14th starting position, Faccinto would get shuffled back in the early goings amidst some extremely tight knit racing on the tight 1/4mile bullring.

After slipping back to 20th, Faccinto would start working his way forward as he would get back to 16th on the race’s 20thlap. While working the high side of the speedway, Faccinto would get over the edge a lap later and bring the yellow out with 14 laps left in the race.

Going back to rear of the field, the Hanford, CA driver would show no quit as he did what he could in the final green flag run of the night as he worked his way back to an 18th place finish.

“Mistakes are super hard to overcome when you’re racing with the Outlaws,’ Faccinto added. “I have to thank Drew Warner and the guys for all of their hard work, as well as the Tarlton family for allowing us to get so many races in together before our KWS season starts. I am looking forward to a couple of new tracks this weekend.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 5, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 2.

ON TAP: Mitchell Faccinto is scheduled to follow the World of Outlaws to Backersfield, CA on Friday night and Lake Perris, CA on Saturday night.
