PETERSEN MEDIA- Bouncing back from a tough showing at the Jackson Nationals that saw Tim Kaeding endure a violent wreck, Kaeding and Lunstra Motorsports were right back in action the team picked up a seventh-place finish on Friday night with the World of Outlaws, and contended for a Sunday night win at Huset’s Speedway until a flat left rear tire deflated their chances.
“It had been a couple of tough weeks for the Lunstra Motorsports team, but we had a hard week of work, recouped, and made it out to take on the World of Outlaws in North Dakota, and had a pretty good weekend,” Tim Kaeding said.
Friday night, the team checked in at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND for the first of two World of Outlaws races on the weekend and Kaeding timed the Acres Away Ag/First National Bank/Dammer Trucking backed No. 3 in 12thfastest in time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, TK held the third spot for much of the race, but falling to fourth in the closing laps dropped him another few rows in the feature event as he took the green flag from the 16th starting spot.
Working the bottom groove of the high banked bullring in the feature event, TK made a lot of headway as he worked his way forward. Hitting his marcs on the bottom groove, TK worked his way through the Top-10 as he closed the night out with a seventh-place finish.
Heading to West Fargo, ND on Saturday night to race at Red River Valley Speedway, Kaeding and company struggled the match the speed they showcased on Friday night. Racing into the ‘A’, Kaeding settled for a 17th place finish on this night.
As the World of Outlaws continued to head West, TK and Lunstra Motorsports retreated to South Dakota as they checked in on Sunday night for weekly competition at Huset’s Speedway.
Timing in sixth fastest in time trials, Kaeding powered his way to a second-place finish in heat race action and then put him in the fourth starting spot for the 25-lap feature event.
The initial start was unkind to Kaeding, but the ensuring restart saw the San Jose, CA driver jump up into second. Running strong in second, Kaeding chased down the race lead, and took over the top spot on the ninth lap.
With a very strong Lunstra Motorsports car under him, Kaeding set a torrid pace out front as he worked the bullring to perfection. With a left rear tire going flat, Kaeding was overtaken for the race lead on the 21st lap, and while the race went yellow the tire continued to lose air and he was forced to the work area.
Opting to make the fix, Kaeding restarted from the tail end of the field and rebounded to finish 11th during the four-lap dash to the finish.
“I hated to lose the race like that for our team,” Tim Kaeding said. “With the adversity we have gone through the last couple of weeks it would have been great to get a win at Huset’s. I really want to thank Dave, Jamie, Reagan, and Max for all they do, as well as Nate, Craig, and Shane for working harder than they should have to. I also want to thank everyone that supports this Lunstra Motorsports team from the bottom of my heart.”
The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Acres Away Ag, First National Bank, Dammer Trucking, Beep Motorsports, Clark’s Custom Coatings, Ahrendt Designs, Valley Springs Body Shop, and Walker Performance Filtration
